Babeluttes

'Les Babeluttes', a Dutch-Belgian company created in 2022. The 2 female artists who compose it, whose friendship began in Belgium, wanted to stage their story. It is named after Belgian sweets, the name means “to talk a lot”. The story goes that the treats were fabricated by sailors wives who were talking a lot among themselves.

The parallel was obvious to Joanne and Moira; 2 women, one Belgian and the other Dutch, chatting a lot, you see the connection...?

Joanne Giaux

Joanne is from Belgium, at the age of 20, decides to move towards the healthcare environment. Thereafter, she seeks to take care of her body but also that of others, and it is then that the circus takes a place in her life. First as a leisure activity at "Cirqu'Conflex" and then by training as a pedagogue at the Brussels circus school. Following she decides to devote a year to develop her circus skills at the "LeZarticirque" circus school in Switzerland. It was then that the trapeze duo with Moira van der Bijl began. A desire to believe that everything is possible despite the passing years, to trust in one's body and in the other, she decides that being an artist is also for her. In this first show" Le Modjo", Joanne develops her clown character as well as her pleasure in playing the accordeon.

Moira van der Bijl

It was in Switzerland that Moira, originally from the Netherlands, discovered circus as being accessible to all. Without the possibility of integrating a circus school in her native country, her childhood dream only came to life in 2014 in Switzerland. She first joined the "L'Elastiquecitrique", which gave her a first contact with circus art. From there, she headed for England where she joined a student circus, which only fueled her passion for the performing arts. Her desire to share this passion with others then brought her to Brussels for an educational training in Circus Arts. Following this, she began to teach the discipline in Switzerland. The growing frustration of not performing on stage pushes her to accept the idea that being an artist is also for her! This is how the great adventure begins in 2022 …
