Les Babeluttes
Les Babeluttes is a Dutch-Belgian company founded in 2022 by two talented artists, Joanne and Moira. Their friendship, born in Belgium, inspired them to bring their story to life through a playful circus-clown show. The company’s name is a nod to the famous Belgian sweets, babeluttes, meaning “talk a lot” – a wink to their close bond, love of conversation, and connection with others!
In addition to performances, the company offers creative workshops in schools and community centers. Since its founding, new projects continue to blossom, including two solo clown shows currently in development.
Joanne Giaux
At 20, Joanne Giaux turned toward the field of care, working for several years with people in vulnerable situations. Sensitive to communication and well-being through the body, she discovered circus arts as a way to express and convey differently.
Trained in circus pedagogy and trapeze, she met her partner Moira, with whom she created the show Le Modjo. Her ease with audiences comes from her experience with vulnerable groups: every performance becomes a living, authentic encounter.
Joanne also enriches her practice through theater and clowning, developing a clowning activity in care settings that blends creativity, care, and human connection. Her artistic work explores sharing, emotion, and the relationship between performers and spectators.
Moira van der Bijl
Moira, originally from the Netherlands, has been passionate about the stage her whole life. Her charisma and enthusiasm have already brought smiles to many people.
Her journey with circus arts began in Switzerland at the age of 24. After several trainings in the field, she met Joanne in Brussels. A deep friendship blossomed, along with the desire to create a show together. After a pause due to COVID, their artistic collaboration resumed in 2022: their friendship has grown even stronger, and this is reflected on stage.
Alongside this project, Moira is developing a solo show centered on the unicycle. She also continues to take clown and theater workshops, exploring other artistic projects.
